Understanding your EPC data in Sprift
Sprift includes EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) data for properties. Here's what it shows and how it's updated.
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rates the energy efficiency of a property on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). Sprift includes EPC data for properties where a certificate has been issued, and displays it as part of the property record.
What EPC data Sprift shows
When available, the EPC section on a property page may include:
- The current EPC rating (e.g. C, D, E)
- The potential EPC rating (what the property could achieve with improvements)
- The date the EPC was issued
- The expiry date of the certificate

Where the data comes from
Sprift sources EPC data from the official EPC Register, which is maintained by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. When a new EPC is issued for a property, it is added to the register and subsequently picked up by Sprift.
How often EPC data is updated
EPC data in Sprift is refreshed regularly as new certificates are added to the register. However, there can be a delay between when a new EPC is issued and when it appears in Sprift. This delay is typically a few weeks but can vary.
Common questions
A property doesn’t show any EPC data. Not all properties have an EPC. An EPC is required when a property is built, sold, or rented, but properties that haven’t been marketed or built since the regulations were introduced may not have one. If you believe an EPC exists but isn’t showing, contact us and we’ll check.
The EPC data shown is outdated. EPCs are valid for 10 years. If a property’s EPC has been renewed since the one shown in Sprift, there may be a delay before the updated certificate appears. If the data seems significantly outdated, let us know and we’ll investigate.
Can I update the EPC data myself? EPC data is sourced automatically from the official register. It cannot be manually edited in Sprift. If you believe the data is incorrect, contact us with the property address and the details you think are wrong.
